Spider-man, Spider-man, friendly neighbor Spider-man.
I imagine I am one of the four people who was not waiting to see the new Spider-man movie. In fact I really was hoping for it to bomb.
I have seen both previous Spider-man movies, and to me there wasn’t much there. Were they entertaining? Yes. But so is a Saturday morning cartoon. And to me that’s exactly where they should have been.
But it has gone on to break the box-office records for opening day and opening weekend. But the tail of the web, will be How will it do week 2 and onward. Time as usual will tell.
The Race that Wasn’t
I suppose you could call me a fan of the amazing race. I’ve watched most of them and usually find them entertaining. But the year of the All-Star was in my opinion, the worst.
Where was the race? All three of the remaining teams arrived at the final designation at the same time, and had a final task that pretty much told the tale. All three would be arriving at the finish line so close that instead of an endurance race, which is what makes it amazing, it was a sprint.
A Summer Yankee
And the New York Yankees announce that Roger Clemens will pitch for them in 2007. Is that really a surprise? Seems to me that’s the norm, the Yankees go out and tries to buy a championship. Once again I hope it fails them.
I’m not blaming Roger Clemens. What a better way to both enjoy retirement and still play. Wait until the end of May, decide which team will pay the most. Spend a month getting in shape. Pitch for July, August, September and October. And retire again to see what happens next year. 7 Months in retirement and 5 playing ball, seems like a nice job to me.
